The recent, devastating events in Texas have given us all pause. Hurricane Harvey tore through South Texas with savage force, dumped rain in epic volumes and then came back for another round. While our hearts go out to our fellow Americans we also remember that there are 4 legged critters that have no voice. Fremont Veterinary Clinic has made contributions to some animal welfare organizations that are in the thick of the disaster and are working tirelessly to help our animal friends. If you’d like to give here is some information about just some of the organizations in the region that can use our help.
The Houston SPCA and Houston Humane Society are two local organizations that are lending aid to the pets and strays of Houston.
The Texas A&M Veterinary Emergency Team is a group of faculty and senior students at the College of Veterinary Medicine that respond to disasters of all types that might require veterinary care. Not only do they care for search and rescue animals and pets but also livestock which are sometimes overlooked. Here’s more information about this group
Finally, the San Antonio SPCA and Austin’s Pets Alive are among the non-Houston pet shelters that are taking in Harvey pet victims and can use any help folks can provide.
